The Story of Roger *
Roger lost his job two months before he came to us. He had been staying with a friend but he knew this was a temporary solution and was looking for something more permanent. He was 50 years old and had never claimed benefits before.
We walked him through the application process and after five days received his initial payment, paving the way for us to start referring him to some of the private landlords we work with.
He viewed a property which he found to be unsuitable, preferring to live somewhere closer to his own support network, and with the kindness of his friend was able to remain temporarily housed.
Roger viewed again and this time took the room. We provided him with a new home starter pack that includes basic kitchen equipment and bedding.
We remain in contact with Roger and are always available to advocate for him if there are any issues in his new shared home.
