The Story of Cyril *
Cyril came to us after he’d been released from prison and had nowhere to live. He’d served his time and was ready to move forward with his life.
He kept in contact with his probation officer and had applied for universal credit to help him while he got back on his feet, which started with finding accommodation.
Reintegrating with life outside is challenging, but our door is always open and we helped him with a phone, some clothes, food and coffee while we worked with him to access housing funds and make referrals to relevant housing providers.
Having secured a tenancy, Cyril was delighted but by slipping into his old ways, he fell into arrears.
By advocating for him and negotiating a repayment plan between him and his landlord as well as referring him to the support of our substance use service, Cyril has maintained his tenancy and is now actively pursuing recovery and engaging with specialist services.
