The Story of Charles *
Charles was referred to the Access Project by his support worker at the YMCA. He’d come to the end of his tenancy there which, much like our own supported accommodation, is 2 years.
Charles had a relationship breakdown due to his alcohol use, which first led him to sofa-surfing and then into the YMCA during which time he engaged with our local wellbeing service and was sober until a relapse last year.
He quickly re-engaged with wellbeing and is again sober. It is testament to the work he’s doing to help himself that his son attended every meeting we had with him during the process of joining the Access Project.
It is part of the tenancy agreement that he will also engage with his assigned Asset Coach, who will be there, offering holistic support across all aspects of his life.
He has taken a room at one of our newest Access houses and is looking forward to moving on with the support of his Asset Coach.
