The Story of Dave *
Dave first came to us after being evicted from private rented accommodation, he had been drinking to excess and arguing with his landlord.
After a short period of rough sleeping he was referred to supported accommodation, stopped drinking, and with the support of a local wellbeing services, he recovered, even through coping with the death of his mother.
As his time there came to an end, his sister became terminally ill and he spent as much time as he could with her, although this in conjunction with grieving for his mother created a significant cost to his mental health.
Dave joined the Access Project and we were glad to offer continued support as he looked for work opportunities, wrote short storied and painted.
It was during his time in the Access Project that he passed the age threshold for sheltered accommodation with the council, which we supported him into.
I bumped into him not that long ago and he is delighted with his permanent home, continues with his hobbies, enjoys cooking fresh and looking after both his body and his mind.
